"In the year 20XX AD. The world cheered MegaMan when at long last he captured and imprisoned Dr.Wily. BUT... Dr.Wily always knew his schemes might end in failure and had planned for just such an occasion. Four robots had been hidden away and after six months without being contacted by Dr.Willy [typo in the intro: Willy with 2 "l"], they activated and begin searching for their master..." [next we see Rock, Roll and Auto in a car driving through the city] Rock : Can't this thing go any faster, Auto?? The city is under attack! Auto : I'll try and punch it up a notch! Hold on, Roll! Roll : I can't believe Wily is loose again! Won't this madman ever stop... Rock : He won't be loose for long! Once Dr.Light gives Rush and me our new enhancements, Wily is history! Auto : Whoa! End of the line. The road is too unstable to keep going. Rock : You two wait here! Auto : MegaMan, take this helmet with you. [Auto gives MM a met-like helmet :-)] I guess not... Personally, I kinda like the other one... Roll : Good luck, MegaMan. [MegaMan jumps out of the car, and walks on the street, he finds Dr.Light lying on the road] MegaMan : D... Doctor, are you ok? I'll bring back Roll to take care of you. Dr.Light : No, MegaMan. We have no time! Wily is using the attack of his robots to cover his escape... look!!! [we see Wily escape in his UFO] You've got to go now, MegaMan. Get Rush and follow Wily's spaceship! [MegaMan walks further, but there's a guy with a dog in the way, the guy fires at MegaMan] Guy : (a)This is... MegaMan?? (b)You are as good as they say, MegaMan. MegaMan : You better tell me who you are? Guy : I'm Bass and he's Treble. We have been trying to stop Dr.Wily while you were away. Bass : (a)You are much too weak to battle Wily. Maybe you better sit this one out. Let's go Treble! (b)I see now that you don't need our help. MegaMan : ....Bass....?   story from the game-intro. (if you don't get hit when Bass fires at you he will say the (b) lines instead of the (a) ones)

First SNES game to follow the original NES plot. Very similar to the NES games, even Rush is back ! I liked this one a lot when I first played it...

Tips'n'tricks

  • I recommend playing the levels in this order :
      1) Junkman, 2) Freezeman, 3) Burstman, 4) Cloudman
  • Rush Jet is hidden in Junkman's level. When you reach the long verticle climb you will see a "100V AC" sign on a machine. Shoot this machine with the Thunder bolt weapon to turn the elevators on. This will allow you to grab the Rush Jet adaptor further up.
  • The S.Adaptor : In the first four stages you must find the letters R, U, S and H. If you do, Rush will be able to act nearly like he did in Mega Man 6. The S. Adaptor combines both powers you use in Mega Man 6. You can fly (for a very short time) by doing a "double jump". You can throw your fist by powering up the S.Adaptor. The R, U, S and H letters can be found in following places :
    R : Burstman : not hidden. U : Cloudman: use Freeze cracker in the part of the stage where you can only see the platforms if you are close. Rain will turn to snow, making the platforms visible. You will see a ladder high up, take it up and go left. S : after the elevator, use the Freeze cracker on the lava where you see it falling down. The ice will break and you can slide under the platform. Go down the ladder and use the Freeze cracker again on the lava to the left. H : Freezeman : when you see a ladder going up, and another one going down, go up, and you'll see the letter.
  • Exit : Can be found at the very end of Freezeman's stage. Use Rush Search a little ahead of the door to Freezman.

...you go to the Museum (picture) where you see Wily exit with Gutsman (picture). A strange boss appears...

Jumps around...
Use Thunder bolt and hit his head to beat him.
Once you've beaten the boss, there's a little scene in Dr.Light's lab again:
-Dr.Light: MegaMan, it's a disaster! Wily and his robots are rampaging through the middle of the city! Get going!

Tips'n'tricks

  • I recommend playing the levels in this order :
      1) Slashman, 2) Springman, 3) Shademan, 4) Turboman
  • Beat : use the Scorch wheel in Slashman's stage near the end, on the trees where the snakes and bees are. The last tree has a ladder hidden in it. Take it up and you'll see poor Beat locked up in a cage. Power up the Mega Buster and set him free.
  • Rocket Punch : a power up to the S. Adaptor. It allows your fist to fly farther and gives it heat seeking ability. It is found in Turbo Man's stage. When you climb a long ladder, you'll see a roller on a Green-Yellow-Red platform to the left. Get to it (with the S. Adaptor) and use Rush Search there to dig it up.
  • Auto's Screw : in Spring Man's stage, on the large board with all the springs, go to the top left corner. Jump on the "Jack-in-the-box" so that when it comes out, it hits left and will bash the barrier to the left. Enter there and you'll find the item that adds items in the shop and cuts prices in half.
  • Protoman's Shield : In order to get this shield, you must find Protoman in 2 designated areas, and then a final show down room. The 1st of the 2 areas is the obvious room in Cloudman's stage. The 2nd more hidden room is exactly one screen above where you get the Rocket Punch on Turboman's stage. If you were to use Rush Search on the street lights above the Rocket Punch Street lights, Rush will face right and go nuts. You must go through the ladder and the wall on the right. Finally, you must now go to Shademan's stage and enter the "final" secret room (locate the pumpkin miniboss, defeat it, this creates a hole in the floor. Jump down and walk right, through the wall). If you met Protoman in the previous spots, he will test your strength here. If you beat him, the Shields all yours (Protoman in the 1st easy room).

During Shademan's level you find Bass lying on the foor:

-Bass: Damn... I was careless! I feel so stupid to have been defeated so easily... Maybe I should give up and leave Wily to you!
-MegaMan: No. We are a team. Dr.Light will be glad to fix you up.
-Bass: Thanks. I'm glad that I have a friend like you...

Once you've beaten the 8 robots, you go back to the lab and find Dr.Light on the floor:

-MegaMan: D... Dr.Light. What happened!?
-Dr.Light: Is that you MegaMan? Bass went berserk after I completed his repairs. He stole the parts for the new enhancements...
-MegaMan: Bass...?? I can't believe it...

...monitor turns on, showing Dr.Wily...

-Dr.Wily: Believe it, MegaMan. Bass and Treble are my creations! I knew that you would be stupid enough to trust him and allow him access to the lab. Now, Bass and Treble will use the enhancements meant for you and Rush! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
-MegaMan: I'll make you pay Wily!!

Bass

Super-Gutsman

Gutsman is back ! (remember Wily stole it from the robot museum) Use Slash claw to throw the huge rocks back at him.

Bass and Treble

-Bass : Ah, my wait is over! This time the mighty MegaMan shall fall! Treble, attack!!

Treble turns into a body-armor for Bass. Use Noise crush and powered up Mega-Buster shots to beat him.

-Bass : Why... why can't I destroy him...??

Turtle-Bot

Use Mega-Buster or Wild coil to hit the turtle head whenever it is exposed. Use Junk shield to destroy the small turtles.

Japanese Mask

Huge flying Mask, fires three kind of weapons (missiles, laser, bombs). Use Noise crush on his nose when he comes down.

Robots Revenge

New-style teleporter room where you have to fight all 8 robots again. Here is who's where:

junk cloud
turbo spring
shade burst

Dr.Wily

  1. Walking skull. Use Thunder bolt or Freeze cracker to hit Dr.Wily.
  2. VERY HARD! Wily's new UFO, same idea as in MM6, 5 & 4, you can only see him when he fires. Use Rocket-Punch (if you don't have it, you're in big trouble) to beat him. You will probably need A LOT of energy tanks (let's say... well, ALL energy tanks).
  3. Dr.Wily surrenders... see "The End" for more

The End

-Dr.Wily : Sorry about all the trouble. I'll go quietly...
-MegaMan : I don't trust you, Wily! I gonna do what I should have done years ago!!
-Dr.Wily : You forget, MegaMan. Robots cannot harm humans...
-MegaMan : I am more than a robot!! Die Wily!!

...MegaMan gets ready to kill Wily, but Bass enters and saves Wily...
